Facilities, Maintenance, Operations and Transportation

Safe, Integrated, and Sustainable Learning Environments

The Los Alamitos Unified School District Facilities, Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation Department encompasses a broad spectrum of services designed to provide high quality facilities to meet the educational needs of students. The department works diligently to accomplish the operational daily duties that promote equitable education opportunities for students and provide flexible education environments.

Facilities

The Facilities team focuses on the various stages of projects such as pre-planning, planning, design, bidding, construction and close-out. Since the completion of the modernization projects that were funded primarily by the 2008 General Obligation Bonds, also known as Measure K funds, the Los Alamitos Unified School District continues to make improvements to the school sites through deferred maintenance projects.  These improvements include the replacement of aging playground structures, additional classroom learning spaces, replacement of aging and/or non-functioning systems and infrastructure, parking lot expansions and energy conservation projects.

In 2018, the community passed a general obligation bond known as Measure G and projects are being implemented across the District.

Maintenance and Operations

The Maintenance and Operations Department in Los Alamitos Unified School District consists of a team of in-house employees who actively repair, maintain and tend to the District's facilities. In addition to the routine maintenance, the Maintenance and Operations department is responsible for preventative maintenance, grounds, facility use rentals, and custodial duties.

Transportation

The Transportation Department actively coordinates with staff and students to ensure the safe transportation for our students to and from school. The department is currently reviewing bus routing and upgrading routing procedures to further improve the services available to students. We will provide further updates as developments occur.
